WE ARE....
.... a bit of an adventurous family who choose to live on the old farm, which is 1.5 km farm from the village. We are renovating and old wooden house (more than 100 years old) and developing our permacultural gardening project. We are also keeping animals who are making us busy the whole year around. Our animals are source of funny stories and they love to make fun from us as well. (Especially goats)
TO SUM IT UP
Basic unit of our family is: David + Anna +Kubik (11) + Berenika (6) and than Goats (at least theree but you never know) + Ouessant sheep (they are French, actually from Brittany usually around 5 but you really never know) + 9 Chicken and the King Cock + Mr. Cat + Mrs. Cat+ Bajun (a big white dog who is a good spirit of our place but sometimes he thinks he is a wolf )+
AND than we also take volunteers to help us and experience how we live:) In winter might come a couple of brave people, in summer up to 4 people at once.
THE PLACE AND CONDITIONS
Volunteers have their own room with wood stove at the attic. We share the kitchen and bathroom. WC (dry toilet) or a panoramic toilet for volunteers is outside. This beautiful invention will help you to experience the changes of the seasons and the most beautiful sundowns you can imagine.
From May - September
We are running a bit of a camping place outside. You can make fires at the fire place, sleep in the tent, enjoy the outside shower and get in touch with the Nature. We think it is an beautiful chance to relax from the over urbanised world:)
WHAT ELSE?
Our place is of the grid. Which means we have got our own water source and 12 Volt electricity system running on the solar panels and 12 V batteries. We also have the petrol generator for running power tools and the washing machine.
We can charge you cell phone, small electronics. But if you will bring up your computer, camera, i pod, i phone, power bank, sound system and your rice cooker because you can not imagine to travel without this necessities please do not expect us to charge your darlings on the regular bases. Our electricity source is limited by capacity (100 AH battery )
And also the sun always doesnt shine as much as we wish.
TRANSPORT
You can get to our farm from the village in 20 minutes. There is both bus stop and train stop. You can also park your car or a van under the hill there is a save and nice meadow parking place. Even with river near by!
Be ready for 1,5 km walk uphill. If you are by car you have to park your car under a hill. Road is steep an muddy if it is rainy. With a suitcase it will be definitely a chalange to reach our farm. But there is a nice natural well in the forest so you could refresh on the way:)

Mezi Lesy is a genuine off-grid family farm on a hill. I had a great time helping out with all kinds of jobs—picking plums, apples, and Cornelian cherries; doing metalwork; feeding the animals; helping with paving; and washing lots of dishes.
The food and cakes were tasty and there was always plenty. The place to sleep was basic: just a mattress on the floor, an outdoor compost toilet, and a cold shower.
I also really enjoyed playing with their daughter, Berenika. She made the stay even more fun and special.

I‘ve had pretty nice couple days on their place!
You will do the daily chores like feeding the animals, and most likely David (maybe Anna) will have you do something different during the day. I did welding, chopping wood and trees, butchering ;) they will always ask you if you are okay with the work and look after you!
It’s a self sufficient farm that doesn’t produce for selling, so don’t expect efficiency, the work is about helping and clearing your mind, not for reaching a production goal!

We had a great stay !! All the family was really nice and welcoming :)
They were flexible with working hours, giving us time to enjoy the surroundings. It was a pleasure to help them as our first woofing experience.
A wonderful experience overall, highly recommended !

We had a great time! Anna & David were lovely hosts. We stayed for an extended weekend. We had the opportunity to help out at their maringotka (a sort of trailer) on the top of a mountain with great views. We got to spend the night there too, which was wonderful. Another task we helped out with was paving the terrace of the house and picking red and black currants (Anna's currant marmalade is the best!!).
The experience at their farm is good for somewhat independent people (e.g. we travelled from the maringotka back to the farm on our own), which was fine with us :) We highly recommend staying and helping out at this farm!

My time here was brief but I enjoyed the peace and getting my mind off everyday stuff while helping here with the work. Everyone including animals was extremely friendly. I might consider coming back some other year to turn my mind off again.

The time I spent on the Mezi Lesy farm was incredible! David and Anna are super nice people and I learned so much from them. I was for almost two months with them. From the end of November to the end of January. I worked a lot with wood, (David can share a lot of skills regarding woodworking), made apple juice, and took care of the goats and all the other animals. If you want to find out what it means to do things by yourself and to live on a farm up in the mountains with few of the everyday luxuries we have all got so used to then I highly recommend you to visit this lovely place. Thank you so much for everything!
